Since the founding of the original Holy Name School by Father William A. O'Conner in 1913, and the opening of the newly constructed school building in 1961, the Catholic Community in and around AuSable Forks has been dedicated to providing a unique style of education for the children of AuSable Valley based on sound spiritual values and academic achievement.
We believe that the love of God and neighbor and a strong family life are crucial to the total development of the young child. Sound academics uncover for the child the wonders of God's creation, providing the foundation for later learning and the building of meaningful and productive relationships with God, family and the community.
Each child is encouraged to develop his or her individual talents to be used, for the greater glory of God in building His kingdom here on earth.
Holy Name educators are committed to traditional instructional approaches to reading, writing, arithmetic, and religion. Our teachers value the importance and benefits of implementing current educational programs. Holy Name students are offered a sound education which provides a balance of traditional and innovative
instruction.
Our academic curriculum follows the guidelines of the Department of Education for New York State and the Diocese of Ogdensburg as they are currently defined. The curriculum is continually updated and enhanced by developments across the state and nation offering intellectual and spiritual growth.
The primary mission of Holy Name School is to assist parents in their call
to teach their children to know and love the Lord. Therefore, it is our
desire that all who enter here will be:
LOVED - as brothers and sisters of Christ.
ACCEPTED - as unique and beloved children of God.
CHALLENGED - to strive for personal, spiritual and academic
excellence in the pursuit of God's plan for their lives.
INSPIRED - by the lived example of gospel values to share the message
of Jesus.
To this end, it is our desire that those who enter this place of learning will
be:
as brothers and sisters of Christ, unique and beloved children of God
striving for personal, spiritual, and academic excellence in the pursuit of
God's plan for their lives and living examples of Gospel values bringing
the message of Jesus Christ to the world.
A different character trait is focused on at Holy Name School each month. These character traits are meant to promote positive social growth. Classroom activities reflect our monthly character trait. Students who exemplify the character trait of the month are recognized during our end of the month prayer service assemblies.
